At Copper Mountain Ski Resort, volunteers get a front row seat to see world-class skiers and snowboarders showcase their skills at competitions like the U.S. Grand Prix and USASA Nationals.
Nestled in the mountains of Colorado, the ski resort has also become a mecca for alpine skiing — the U.S. Ski Team Speed Training and North American Cup athletes train at the resort.
Competitions and Events Volunteer Coordinator Dustin Schaffer says that the successful coordination of these events lies with the 100 to 120 volunteers that fill the jobs needed to run competitions.
“SignUpGenius has been invaluable in my job to organize all the people and information I need to coordinate,” Schaffer says. “Rather than having to send information to all my volunteers and have them tell me which days and times they would like to work and organize that info myself, I can simply make one online document and send it off to everyone to fill in themselves.”
The ability to send real-time emails with changes and updates has been integral to get the word out to volunteers for the resort’s high-profile events. Having previously analyzed and shared data for event staffing manually, Schaffer found the ability to export sign ups to Excel invaluable.
“This tool is extremely useful for helping me keep my own records as well as to share staffing levels for various events,” Schaffer says. “Being able to export the sign ups to Excel allows me to do this very easily with just a few clicks.”
